Documents are generally stored in document libraries in SharePoint.

A feature of any good document management system is having the ability to delete and restore deleted documents.

In SharePoint 2010, you can use either SharePoint's web browser interface or Windows explorer to delete one or more documents from a document library.

To delete a document from the SharePoint 2010 browser interface:

  1. In SharePoint 2010, navigate to the document library where the document you want to delete is located.
  2. Hover over the document you want to delete and then select the check box that appears in front of the document. This will bring forward the Documents tab on the Ribbon.
Note: You could also click on the down arrow on the right-hand side of the document, and then select Delete from the drop-down menu that appears.
